The Study Hut Tutoring, near Palos Verdes, focuses on both content and test taking skills to help students earn the highest grade possible. There is no penalty for wrong answers on the test; therefore, we encourage students to use educative guesses on answers that they are unsure about instead of leaving questions blank. We have developed methods that will give students the skills they need to make the best possible guess. Through elimination and reasoning, students will be able to determine answers to problems they thought they could not answer.

Being familiar with the test will increase students confidence and make them feel more comfortable when the day of the test comes. In order to familiarize the students with the HSPT, we first explain all five sections of the test so the students know what to expect. Next, we provide the students with practice tests that allow them to master their test timing. It is important that the students know roughly how much time they have to spend per question. In addition, practice tests also allow us to assess the student’s problem areas and determine what sections need more focus. Our tutors are skilled at determining where students have gaps in their knowledge, and they are experienced in helping them build the solid base of knowledge necessary for success on the HSPT!
