El Segundo High School Finals tutoring is hot on everyone’s mind. In what seems like a blur, the holidays are gone and the new year is off and running, straight into the finish line of semester one for our El Segundo School District students. High schoolers and middle schoolers will complete their final exams, papers, and projects this week, sealing their grades for the first half of the academic year 2017-2018. Here at Study Hut, we have been working hard to help our students prepare to perform their best on their final exams, and are keeping the pedal down through the home stretch!
In addition to signing up our students for El Segundo High School finals tutoring at Study Hut Tutoring, we had the opportunity last week to get onto the El Segundo High School campus to provide complimentary final exam tutoring for those students who chose to take advantage of the opportunity. We worked with about 100 students in subjects ranging from Algebra 1 & 2 , Geometry, Statistics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, to Spanish, English, Psychology, and History. We had a strong team of tutors on hand for four hours on Friday, eagerly answering questions, providing detailed conceptual breakdowns, evaluating practice problems, and otherwise supporting the ambitious students as they worked to gain academic momentum during their approach to final exams. What a pleasure it is to be welcomed onto the campus to provide this service, and to engage with students as they look to confidently enter final exams.
We will be busy this week working with our students until 10pm nightly. Final exams can be daunting to downright overwhelming, and Study Hut tutors are here to make this mountain into a molehill. With an appropriate and strategic approach, high-performing students know that final exams offer a time not only to be challenged, but to showcase the hard work and preparation that has defined the days and weeks leading to now.

In order to provide our students with specialized, tailored test ACT and SAT tutoring sessions, we encourage our students to complete a full length, free SAT or ACT practice test. We then critically analyze the results and prepare a tutoring plan tailored to our students, emphasizing focus on areas of potential improvement. As we move through scheduled tutoring sessions, students will return to take additional free SAT or ACT practice tests, which allows us to check our progress in real time and shift focus when the need is indicated by performance.
In addition to reviewing specific concepts and learning new strategies and test taking techniques, exercising to build test taking endurance is crucial. The SAT and ACT are each about four hours long. No matter how you cut it, four hours is a long time to maintain focus, flex cognitive abilities, and perform at a consistently high level. We’ve moved! We couldn’t be more thrilled to officially announce our new address at 529 Main Street. We are happy to sit on the cozy corner of Main Street and Imperial. We are surrounded by other great El Segundo businesses and restaurants, and we are excited to get to know our neighbors.
Our new location is within walking distance of El Segundo High School, so our students can easily mosey down Main Street and grab a bite to eat before coming to their appointments at the Hut. This makes it more convenient than ever for our ESHS students to get homework help, study for that big test, or prepare for the SAT/ACT, especially for our students who aren’t driving yet.
In addition, our new location is bigger! The newly improved Hut can accommodate twice as many desks, meaning students have more access to the wonderful El Segudno staff. With more room for whiteboards, more room for computers, and more room for snacks, the new Hut is better than ever.
Our new location is also easy to spot. It is literally a Hut on stilts! Just look for our signs in the window! Our stilted hut looks over the park across the street and has parking accessible below the building. So our students who do drive, have an easy place to park their cars. Even though our address has changed, our services have not. We still offer all of the Study Hut classics; like K-12 subject tutoring, ACT and SAT prep, private school entrance exam help, college admission counseling, and free diagnostic exams and consultations.
