Summer Tutoring at Study Hut Tutoring

July 8th, 2008

Study Hut Tutoring individually tailors instruction to all ages. Our local and comfortable study culture enriches students in order to dominate on tests and raise grades. The Study Hut team fuels the ambition of students who have “cooled off” academically, as well as students who are eager to learn organizational and study systems which make school easy.

Chemistry students, to name one tough subject, are working effectively with local college graduates who attended the same class as their students. Elementary and middle school students are learning how to write a strong high school essay, a format that works with any topic. Bruce, a favored local tutor and product of the Manhattan Beach school system, comments about the goings on at the Hut. “Locals who train locals is not a new idea…coaches have been training kids outside of school for a long time. We have added academia to the list of summer activities in which to train.”

El Segundo Tutor

May 21st, 2008

–El Segundo Schools On the Rise!–

El Segundo schools are gaining prominence in the South Bay and and have seen a considerable amount of recent recognition, which is awesome! Both sports and academics are on the rise (Congratulations El Segundo Women’s Water Polo!) Study Hut tutors are happy to provide a place for El Segundo students to continue on the road of academic success and overall achievement. We already have a few El Segundo students in the Hut and are happy to see more El Segundo faces.

Our relaxed environment mixed with a heavy dose of scholastic energy and enthusiasm is working wonders for our Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach students and we are happy to extend our efforts and energy over to our El Segundo neighbors! Our tutors use their depth of knowledge of the area to reach the needs of each student at the Study Hut…. but never without some fun, of course!

If you are looking for help in that one troubling subject (Boo, Geometry), or need of an overall academic boost, we have Spanish Tutors, Math Tutors, Chemistry tutors, History Tutors, English Tutors (and more!) to provide a new outlook, and help keep our students on the right track. No need to feel like you are barely keeping your head above water in those pesky subjects when you can dominate them!

If you are an El Segundo student or parent looking for an El Segundo tutor, call the Hut or email Rob or Sean Patrick for more information. We would love to see you achieve the success you are looking for.

Where’s the Cure for Senioritis?

May 21st, 2008

It’s hard to stay motivated at the end of the year. This, we know. It’s unfortunate that crunch time arrives just as we can see summer time around the corner. This is especially true for those seniors out there! Ok, it doesn’t matter if you’re a senior; senioritis may be effecting you as well. It seems as if there is so much to remember and very little time to remember it. For some of you, it may feel as if your classes are caving in on you; subjects that were always difficult are now busting your butt! It can be really overwhelming. Read the rest of this entry »

SAT II English in June or November or Both?

May 15th, 2008

Hi Study Hut Tutoring,
My son is scheduled to take the SAT II in Bio on June 7. Do you think that he should take the English test then or should he wait until Nov.? He’ll be taking the SAT I for the second time in Oct. so the only time left would be in Nov. My feeling is that he is not ready to do the best that he can on the English. I think he’d be more prepared in Nov. after doing prep with you all summer. What do you think? If the best option for him is to wait until Nov. for the English, then I think he should wait until summer to start SAT prep again.

Please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks.

Mrs. C

Dear Mrs. C,

The pool of testers in November is more competitive than the pool of testers that take the test in June. I would recommend that he take both…the highest test score is always taken, and he can train based on his errors from the first exam.

A Great Redondo Beach Tutor

April 17th, 2008

(310) 540-5888 is the phone number for Study Hut Tutoring and one Redondo Beach tutor, Tamer Makeen. Tamer runs Study Hut Tutoring in South Redondo Beach. Located conveniently at 210 Avenue I, Tamer is booking tutoring appointments at an incredible rate. Redondo Beach High School, Palos Verdes High School, Peninsula High School, Rolling Hills Preparatory and Chadwick students find the instruction at the Hut extremely helpful.

When we asked 9th grader Janelle Darman about the Study Hut in Redondo Beach she was eager to exclaim, “I’m excited to learn with Tamer and the Hut team at least twice a week. His Hut is the coolest place I’ve been to, and my two worst grades in math and biology are now my two best grades thanks to all the affordable one-on-one help I receive each hour.” Read the rest of this entry »
